Composers: Bernstein, Leonard
Artists: Bernstein, Leonard · de Waart, Edo · Gutiérrez, Horacio · Kim, Young Uck · New York Philharmonic Orchestra
Leonard Bernstein's Young People's Concerts were a unique national media event for the baby boomer generation in the United States. During prime time, the inimitable maestro produced entertaining programs for the nationwide channel CBS again and again between 1958 and 1972, which introduced children – and by no means only children – to the wide world of music in a multifaceted, humorous, and informative way. With his irresistible charm and his boundless passion for all music, Bernstein managed to make an entire generation of "young people" interested in the secrets of music. The third and final part of the series, which was first published in full by the C Major label, contains 15 episodes of the series, as well as three Young Performers Concerts, in which young talents (including Edo de Waart, Horacio Gutiérrez, and Lawrence Foster) can be seen. All recordings have been restored to the best possible extent from the original tapes and now feature German subtitles for the first time.
