Composers: Copland, Aaron
Artists: Detroit Symphony Orchestra · Slatkin, Leonard
It is probably the most popular work by its composer and one of the best-known American symphonies of all: Aaron Copland's Third. Above all, it was the (later also released as a standalone piece) Fanfare for The Common Man, which also made its mark in pop music through its arrangement by the rock band Emerson, Lake and Palmer, that brought millions of listeners around the world to the Third Symphony. No wonder there are numerous recordings of the piece. But it is still something special when the world-famous Detroit Symphony Orchestra takes on this symphony under the leadership of its outstanding chief conductor Leonard Slatkin. Here beats the American soul, and you can feel and hear it in every bow stroke!
