Description

This lavish 10-CD box set was released to mark the 75th birthday of the French conductor Sylvain Cambreling. It contains compositions by Hector Berlioz, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Igor Stravinsky, Arnold Schoenberg, Béla Bartók, Leoš Janáček, Henri Dutilleux, Charles Ives and Olivier Messiaen. A large number of the recordings are making their first appearance on disc here. The SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg and the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra perform. To date, Cambreling has conducted around 120 operas and the number of symphonic and concert works he has conducted approaches 1000.
