Dutilleux, Henri
Henri Dutilleux was born in 1916 in Angers and died in 2013 in Paris. Henri Dutilleux was a French composer. As one of the leading French composers of his time, his work was rooted in the impressionist style of Debussy and Ravel, yet in a distinctive, individual style. His most famous works include his early flute sonatina and his piano sonata; concertos for cello, Tout un monde lointain..., and violin, L'arbre des songes; a string quartet titled Ainsi la nuit; and two symphonies: No. 1 and No. 2 Le Double. Recordings and performances continue to make this music readily accessible to new generations worldwide. His independent, expressive musical legacy lives on.
