Description
This box set of three Blu-rays brings together highlights from the Arena di Verona: the two Giacomo Puccini operas “Tosca” and “Turandot” as well as Sonya Yoncheva & Vittorio Grigolo performing “Love Duets”. “Turandot” was staged by Franco Zeffirelli and conducted by Marco Armiliato. The lead roles are sung by superstars Anna Netrebko and Yusiv Eyvazov. For “Tosca” – the director here is Hugo De Ana – Francesco Ivan Ciampa took over the conducting, and the world-famous soprano Sonya Yoncheva sings the title role. By her side is the tenor Vittorio Grigolo, who is at home on the opera stages of the world as well as performing in lieder, concerts, and oratorios. Yoncheva and Grigolo are also the protagonists of the program “Love Duets”, which was first released in 2021. Plácido Domingo is at the podium, and arias and duets from operas by Charles Gounod, Jules Massenet, Giacomo Puccini, Georges Bizet, and Giuseppe Verdi can be heard.
