Transcription has a long tradition in the history of music. Often, composers themselves wrote different versions of their works, and it is frequently musicians who adapt works for their own instruments. Even great names enjoyed arranging the works of their predecessors, thereby transporting them into their own time and era of music history and subjecting them to their own interpretation. These include Rachmaninoff, Liszt, and Friedman—all three great pianists and composers. The renowned Russian pianist Zlata Chochieva presents her transcriptions of works by great composers such as Bach, Mendelssohn, and Mahler on her new album (re)creations.
