Golden Age

This new release celebrates the glorious world of 19th-century opera and the timeless beauty of the golden age of bel canto. Featuring music by Gaetano Donizetti, Gioacchino Rossini, Georges Bizet, Léo Delibes and Giuseppe Verdi, the album presents soprano Erin Morley and tenor Lawrence Brownlee – two of the most exciting voices of the present day – accompanied by the Munich Radio Orchestra under the baton of Ivan Repušić. Together, they bring new brilliance to the French and Italian repertoire with their performances. This carefully assembled collection of some of the jewels of the opera world includes iconic duets and arias that captivate modern audiences with their passion, beauty and dramatic intensity. Soprano Erin Morley recorded Georg Friedrich Handel's "Alcina" only last year, for which she received rave reviews. She is in demand worldwide and has worked with the finest conductors, including Christian Thielemann, Bernard Haitink and Riccardo Chailly. Ivan Repušić has been the chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra for almost 20 years. He is also the chief conductor of the Staatskapelle Weimar and the designated general music director of the Leipzig Opera.
