Portrait of Ottorino Respighi

Respighi, Ottorino

Ottorino Respighi was born in Bologna in 1879 and died in Rome in 1936. Ottorino Respighi was an Italian composer. His father encouraged him to dedicate himself to music at a young age, and he received formal instruction in violin and piano. His compositions include operas, ballets, orchestral suites, choral songs, chamber music, and transcriptions of Italian compositions from the 16th to 18th centuries. However, his most famous and frequently performed works are his three orchestral tone poems, which brought him international fame: "Fountains of Rome," "Pines of Rome," and "Roman Festivals." Their distinctive, expressive, and imaginative music is still frequently performed today. His independent, expressive, imaginative, influential, and enduring musical legacy lives on.
