Description

“I am a true Indian. Mumbai is my home,” says Zubin Mehta about his birthplace. The Music Director for Life of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra traveled to India with his inspiring 110-member orchestra, and together they celebrated Maestro Mehta’s 80th birthday in 2016 with two fantastic concerts at the National Center for Performing Arts in Mumbai, which are now available for the first time on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The programs of the two gala concerts featured works by some of Mehta’s favorite composers (including Beethoven, Dvořák, Ravel, Brahms, and others), performed together with Pinchas Zukerman, Amanda Forsyth, and Denis Matsuev, who are among Mehta’s closest musical friends and companions. This release is a recording from the National Center for Performing Arts in Mumbai, India, from April 2016.
