Water & Fire

For his album "Water & Fire," Rupert Egerton-Smith has compiled a program that focuses on the connection between music and imagery. The starting point is his exploration of how composers create atmospheric spaces and narrative scenes through harmony, melody, tone color, and texture.

The selection of works follows an overarching theme: water and fire as musical elements. The program combines pieces that capture a wide range of manifestations of these two motifs – from the shimmering of a fountain and the movement of waves to flickering flames and fireworks.

At the same time, Rupert Egerton-Smith attaches great importance to placing rarely performed or unusually combined works in a new context. This results in a program structured with a dramatic arc, in which each piece tells its own musical story while becoming part of a greater whole.
