Traversa: The Lost Horizon

The six works on this album trace Martino Traversa’s search for new musical contexts. In his reflections on composition, he engages with Luigi Nono’s late fragmentary style and the music of Salvatore Sciarrino. For him, the key question is how musical forms can be rebuilt.

The title work, “The lost horizon” (2019), is written for trumpet and ensemble, while “For the trumpet” (2022) is for solo trumpet. The album also includes “Quartet No. 3” (2017–2018) for string quartet, “Dovuto a Boulez” (2023–2024) for bass clarinet and piano, “Red” (2012) for violin, and “Rimane, l'eco” (2004) for chamber ensemble.
