Identithree

On “Identithree,” Italian drummer Nicola Angelucci performs with pianist Enrico Zanisi and bassist Enzo Pietropaoli. The three musicians come from different generations and each contributes their own compositions to the program: Angelucci’s include “Outro,” “Out of Maze,” and “Morning,” while Zanisi wrote “Ma” and Pietropaoli wrote “Daddy’s Cloud.” The program also includes “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and Miles Davis’s “Solar,” which is heard in two takes. For decades, Pietropaoli has been one of the most influential bassists in Italian jazz and has worked with musicians such as Chet Baker, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield. “Identithree” combines this experience with the musical styles of his two trio partners.
