Pieces for Cello and Piano [Notre amour]

The Zurich tradition of publishing so-called "New Year's papers" on January 2nd, Berchtoldstag (Alemannic/Swiss German: Bächtelistag), dates back to the 17th century. Societies and institutions published printed matter, graphic art, or music prints for the youth of Zurich and sold them for a good cause in a social setting. This 2024 New Year's CD continues this tradition and brings together works by six composers, almost all of whom were born and trained in the French-speaking world: Ernest Bloch, Gabriel Fauré, César Franck, Germaine Tailleferre, Cécile Chaminade, and Paul Juon. What they have in common is that a manuscript, first edition, or early print of theirs is held in the Music Department of the Zentralbibliothek Zürich.
