Rudolph Ganz and the Last Romantics

Pianist, conductor, composer, close friend of Busoni, and advocate for Ravel in the United States: Rudolph Ganz is one of the great forgotten figures of early 20th-century music. Through eleven works, including five Welterstein recordings, Dominic Chamot traces Rudolf Ganz's unique artistic path at the intersection of Romanticism and Modernism. From the intimate lyricism of his early piano miniatures to the bolder harmonies of his later works, this program reveals a composer of distinctive originality and imagination. The album places Ganz alongside the composers who shaped his artistic world and dedicated significant works to him: Christian Sinding, Ferruccio Busoni, and Maurice Ravel. With the award-winning German-Swiss pianist Dominic Chamot, this recording combines discovery, virtuosity, and historical insight.
