Poulenc / Debussy / Franck: Dialogues

Janina Ruh is the winner of the SWR New Talent competition and is indeed an extraordinary artist, for she is doubly gifted. She is not only a promising cello virtuoso but also an excellent soprano. Although such double talents are not so rare (one might think of Julia Fischer, who, in addition to her career as a violin virtuoso, also frequently gives piano recitals), one is naturally skeptical at first: Can an artist serve "two masters"? Can she be equally accomplished and professional in both fields? Janina Ruh proves that one does not have to commit to a single career path. She is equally convincing on her instrument and with her voice. And in Boris Kusnezow, she has a duo partner by her side who makes the excellently selected program of works by Poulenc, Debussy, and Franck a veritable event. A huge congratulations to Janina Ruh! SWRmusic and Naxos wish her all the best for the start of her career with this outstanding debut album!
