Mozart: Complete Works for Clarinet, Vol. 1

“Mozart always had a special affinity for wind instruments; for him they were essential components of his musical expression,” says the French clarinetist Nicolas Baldeyrou, a world-renowned soloist who has worked with some of the greatest conductors and virtuosos. With this album he presents the first part of a complete recording of Mozart’s chamber and concert music for clarinet, which he recorded on historical instruments, “an authentic and illuminating experience, despite the technical challenges that come with it.” He has made use of the help of his musical friends, who are all established performers on modern instruments but have a great passion for historical instruments... The program of this first volume includes Serenades K. 375 and 388 as well as Mozart’s Gran Partita K. 361, a work of extraordinary size, which with its thirteen performers, its extended duration and its outstanding musical quality “reaches the level of Mozart’s greatest symphonies and operas.”
