Martinů: Early Orchestral Works Vol. 2

The Shadow is a major, significant ballet by the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, whose moderately modern style is gaining an increasing number of admirers in Germany. The fact that this musically absolutely delightful work, composed in 1916 and lasting over an hour, has never been recorded until now is due to the fact that it had only existed in manuscript form. TOCCATA CLASSICS from Great Britain has now completed the world premiere recording with the excellent Sinfonia Vorsovia, an ensemble that ranks among the best Eastern European orchestras of all. The result is stunningly good!
