Mark-Almond (not to be confused with the British pop singer Marc Almond (formerly of Soft Cell)) was a British folk-jazz-rock band that played its way into the hearts of the scene in the 1970s with a series of excellent albums. The formation around guitarist Jon Mark and saxophonist and flutist Johnny Almond played with jazz (rock) greats such as Steve Gadd, Billy Cobham, Dannie Richmond, Tommy Eyre, and Roger Sutton, among others. For a long time, their albums were out of print; this release, just in time for the band's 50th anniversary, compiles their first four albums "Mark-Almond" (1970), "Mark-Almond II" (1971), "Rising" (1972), and "Mark-Almond 73" (1973), as well as their last studio album before their first breakup, "Tuesday In New York" (1980).
