Liszt: Years of Pilgrimage

The distinguished French pianist Roger Muraro is working on several recording projects with Alpha Classics. Born in Lyon to Venetian parents, the pianist studied with Yvonne Loriod and is considered the leading authority on the music of Olivier Messiaen, to whom he has devoted much of his career. However, the renowned pedagogue and former professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris is also known for his profound and sensitive approach to the music of Ravel, Chopin, Schumann—and especially Liszt, whom he holds in particularly high regard. He now presents a monumental masterpiece by Liszt, which he describes as a work of “universal intimacy”: “I admire the freedom with which the evocations of the soul, nature, and the colors of the masters of Italian painting unfold one after another.
