Tears of Saint Peter

This recording, made in January 2025 at Noirlac Abbey, is dedicated to Denis Raisin Dadre, who passed away completely unexpectedly on September 29 of the same year. With Doulce Mémoire, the ensemble he founded in 1989 and with which he brought Renaissance music to the world, Denis led the production of this album from beginning to end. In the booklet, he writes: "The Lagrime di San Pietro and Le Lagrime del peccatore have in common that they deal with a rarely set theme – the denial of Saint Peter – and that both are the swan songs of two composers. Munich, 1594: In his final year of life, Orlando di Lasso created his masterpiece, the pinnacle of Renaissance counterpoint and musical eloquence. Ferrara, 1586: Lodovico Agostini published his final work, whose language aimed above all to move and overwhelm the listener through the already Baroque use of chromaticism and dissonance."
