J. S. Bach: Mass in B Minor

25 years of La Cetra Basel! To celebrate this anniversary, La Cetra and Arcana are releasing Bach's Mass in B minor, which in the 19th century was called "the greatest musical masterpiece of all time". "It is a dream come true to have recorded this work for La Cetra's 25th anniversary - the best birthday present ever," says Maestro Andrea Marcon. Under his direction, La Cetra Basel has made a name for itself in recent years with acclaimed interpretations of J. S. Bach's most important sacred works. This recording with outstanding soloists presents Andrea Marcon's distinctive vision for this Mass, which is characterized by the division of the voices into "Concertists" and "Ripienists". The richness of sound and the character of each movement result from the masterful balance between solo and tutti, creating a three-dimensional sound reminiscent of a three-manual organ. The result is a unique sound full of fresh nuances and colors, which undoubtedly comes very close to Bach's original conception.
