Haydn: The Creation

It can be said with good reason that the oratorio The Creation was regarded as Haydn's most important work during his lifetime. To this day, it has lost none of its status as an indisputable masterpiece. With The Creation, Haydn influenced numerous composers who followed him, from Beethoven to Mendelssohn and on to Bruckner and Mahler. The Tonkünstler Orchestra, under the proven leadership of its chief conductor Yutaka Sado, spared no effort to bring Haydn's masterpiece to the stage in a manner worthy of this outstanding piece of music. With first-class soloists such as Christina Landshamer, Maximilian Schmitt, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher, as well as the magnificent RIAS Chamber Choir, the acoustically renowned Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein was graced with a cast that could hardly have been better wished for.
