The "Antiphonarium Nidrosiense" brings together Gregorian chant from Nidaros, modern-day Trondheim, as interpreted by the Schola Sanctae Sunnivae. The ensemble follows performance instructions preserved in the oldest sources concerning the liturgy of the hours and applies them to the later repertoire. This results in a historical approach to a vocal tradition whose roots extend back to the eastern regions of Europe.
The chant is complemented by "Praeludes & Interludes" by Norwegian composer Henning Sommerro. The three movements draw on themes from the original material to create transitions within the liturgy or between prayer services. Gregorian chant and contemporary timbres are thus combined: bells, inspired by the carillon of Nidaros Cathedral, and marimba expand the soundscape. The recordings were made in 2023, 2024, and 2025 at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. Performers include the Schola Sanctae Sunnivae under the direction of Anne Kleivset, as well as Vegar Sandholt, Olaf Dimitri Røe, and Euegen Liven d’Abelardo.
