Glass: Piano Etudes, Book 1

In time for the 86th birthday of arguably the best-known and most influential American composer Philip Glass (*January 31, 1937), pianist Vicky Chow, a member of the renowned musician collective Bang on a Can All-Stars for over 10 years, makes her debut with the first book of Glass's groundbreaking études. Vicky Chow is intimately familiar with the oeuvre and knows the composer personally: curiously, she met him on stage in 2018 when she performed with him—at the same piano—at one of the legendary annual Bang on a Can concert marathons. Since that performance, during which she played excerpts from the études presented here, she has repeatedly returned to these works.
