Kotaro Fukuma is undoubtedly a special pianist: In Japan he is one of the true stars of the scene and fills even the largest halls there. With his 12 albums to date, which were however mostly only available in Japan, he has established his status as one of the most popular classical artists in his home country. While Fukuma is therefore one of the celebrated "celebrities" in Japan, he is still little known in Germany, …which is surprising: After all, Fukuma has lived in Germany for many years, studied under Klaus Hellwig in Berlin among others, and speaks perfect German. Now Kotaro Fukuma is releasing worldwide via NAXOS. His first album is an exquisite program of French piano music, which contains popular classics as well as extremely rare pieces. Fukuma performs and plays Debussy's Rêverie and Ravel's Pavane, as well as Satie's Gymnopédies and little-known works by the prominent piano colleague Alexis Weissenberg or his own arrangement of Ravel's La Valse. Conclusion: An album that makes you listen closely and makes you curious about Kotaro Fukuma! Recorded in DXD at 24 bit/352.8kHz, this is an album in breathtaking sound quality!
