Fantasia - Music for Trumpet and Organ

Matilda Lloyd and Richard Gowers, concert partners for over a decade, present a varied programme of music for trumpet and organ. Transcriptions of Baroque works are combined with four world premieres of new compositions by British composers commissioned for this album. Matilda writes: “Welcome to our world of Fantasia – an imaginative exploration of the time-honoured combination of trumpet and organ. Featuring five types of trumpet in seven different keys and the newly renovated organ at Waltham Abbey, this album explores a wealth of sounds that will delight the imagination and enchant the ear!” Alongside the organ landmark “Toccata and Fugue” by Johann Sebastian Bach, works by Baroque composers Johann Ludwig Krebs, Johann Pachelbel and Giovanni Battista Martini are juxtaposed with contemporary compositions by Roxanna Panufnik, Richard Barnard, Deborah Pritchard and Owain Park.
