Beethoven / Brahms: Violin Concertos

Ginette Neveu became a legend, adorned with superlatives not only because of her outstanding personality and talent, but also because of her early death. She was the first great female violinist to be so quickly revered throughout the world, and it was repeatedly attested that her playing, imbued with irresistible power, passion, intensity, singing quality, richness of tone, and precision, possessed an almost masculine penetrating force. The recording of the Beethoven concerto in Baden-Baden with the Südwestfunk Symphony Orchestra under Hans Rosbaud was made just one month before her untimely death in an accident on September 25, 1949.
