Whiting: Till We Meet Again [The Songs of]

The latest release in Retrospective’s “The Songs Of…” series, dedicated to the greatest songwriters of all time, is a tribute to one of the most significant popular songwriters of the 20th century, Richard Whiting (1891–1938). His songs were among the iconic sounds of their day, including timeless evergreens such as “Till We Meet Again,” “Sleepy Time Gal,” “She’s Funny That Way,” and “Guilty.” Since the dawn of the talkies, Whiting was among Hollywood’s most successful composers, writing a long series of film hits, including “Louise,” “My Ideal,” “Too Marvelous For Words,” and the theme of “Tinseltown,” “Hooray For Hollywood.” As with every installment in this series, a wonderful selection of artists has been compiled, many of whom were the original performers or had a special connection to the songs: Doris Day, Margaret Whiting, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby, Dick Haymes, The Boswell Sisters, and many others.
