Works for Violin and Violoncello

Although not blessed with as extensive a repertoire as the violin/piano combination, numerous composers have written for the duo of violin and cello. This collection of works by Hungarian composers not only provides a broad overview but, above all, offers musical enjoyment! The two passionate musicians Friedemann Eichhorn and Alexander Hülshoff have Hungarian rhythm in their blood and a real flair for these exciting partnerships. Kodály's Duo is one of his best-known works and is every bit as captivating as that of his pupil Mátyás Seiber (1905–1960). Equally compelling is the duo by Miklós Rózsá, who, with a flair for successful melodies, also made a splash as a film composer. Hungary is a musical country par excellence, and this special combination of instruments is just one way to discover it!
