The Vienna State Opera presents a Richard Wagner classic in a production by the duo of Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito, who stage "Lohengrin" as a detective story with a surprising twist. The two recently impressed with their highly successful production of Mieczysław Weinberg's opera "The Passenger" at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. Christian Thielemann takes the conductor's podium, more than proving his reputation as a Wagner expert par excellence. David Butt Philip as the titular Lohengrin and Malin Byström as Elsa were praised by the press as well as Anja Kampe as Ortrud and Martin Gantner as Telramund. The powerful performance of the Vienna State Opera Chorus contributes to the outstanding overall impression of the production.
