Lost American Violin Sonatas Vol. 2

In the second volume, which explores lost American violin sonatas, Solomia Soroka (violin), Phillip Silver and Arthur Greene (both piano) provide an overview of half a century of musical creation, from the spirited high Romanticism of Boston-born Clara Rogers and the passionate early Impressionism of New York-based Albert Stoessel to the explicitly Jewish sounds of Julius Chajes, who settled in Detroit and, as one of many refugees from National Socialism, added a new note to American music. All three works bear witness to the rich legacy of forgotten American music, waiting to be rediscovered by attentive and curious musicians and listeners. The works by Clara Kathleen Rogers and Julius Chajes are world premiere recordings.
