Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake

“Swan Lake,” the most impressive story of love, betrayal, and forgiveness in classical ballet literature, returns to the stage of the Royal Opera House. While hunting, Prince Siegfried encounters a flock of swans. One of them transforms into the beautiful mortal woman Odette, and he instantly falls in love. But Odette is bound by a spell that keeps her trapped as a swan during the day. Can Siegfried free her? The sensational music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, together with the evocative imagination of choreographer Liam Scarlett and set designer John Macfarlane, further enriches the dramatic pathos of the classical ballet by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. “Swan Lake” remains one of the most popular works in the canon of classical ballet.
