Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake (Royal Opera House, London 2024, Directed by: Jones)

“Swan Lake,” the most impressive story of love, betrayal, and forgiveness in classical ballet literature, returns to the stage of the Royal Opera House. While hunting, Prince Siegfried encounters a flock of swans. One of them transforms into the beautiful Odette, and he instantly falls in love. But Odette is bound by a spell that keeps her trapped as a swan during the day. Can Siegfried free her? Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s sensational music, together with the evocative imagination of choreographer Liam Scarlett and set designer John Macfarlane, further enriches the dramatic pathos of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov’s ballet classic. To this day, “Swan Lake” remains one of the most popular works in the classical ballet canon. Yasmine Naghdi is a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet in London and has received several awards, including 2018’s “Best Dancer” at the National Critics Dance Awards.
