Thomas: Sun

Augusta Read Thomas is one of the world's most active composers: she has already composed orchestral works and chamber music, choral works, and several ballets. She continuously receives commissions and, alongside this activity, is also a successful professor; she launched Chicago’s largest new music festival (Ear Taxi) and founded one of the most productive incubators for new works in the USA, the Grossman Ensemble, which can also be heard on this recording. "Sol" presents a collection of rituals: for introspection, for spiritual stimulation, and at the very least as a reminder that light can triumph in the darkness.
