In the end, when the musicians have poured their heart, their soul, and their years of mastery into it, when the recording team has entered the room with wisdom, tools, patience, and goodwill, when the executive producer says, 'Sure, let's book another session to make sure it's the best it can be', then the listener has the chance to hear it all – the breath, the intention, the interplay, the soloists, the fingers on the strings, the air flowing from the recorder, the hands on the regulators of the uilleann pipes, the tipper touching the head of the bodhrán, the rosin on the bow of the violin, and the feathered end of the note on a viola da gamba. It's all there. On "There I Long to Be", Ensemble Galilei plays works by Turlough O'Carolan, Carolyn Surrick, John Dowland, Isaac Alderson, Pieter de Vois, and many other composers, as well as folk songs of unknown origin.
