Tessarini: Six Sonatas op. 14 / Il Piacier delle dame

Japanese flautist Eriko Oi, winner of the International Competition for Early Music in Yamanashi (Japan), is accompanied in this production by harpsichordist Tung-Han Hu. The program includes world premieres of works for flute and continuo by the Italian composer Carlo Tessarini, who was born in Rimini at the end of the 17th century. Tessarini, a violin virtuoso who performed throughout Europe and a prolific composer, also ventured into writing for the flute, as did many of his contemporaries, and greatly enriched the instrument's repertoire. The performance of the two collections presented on this album demonstrates that Tessarini was undoubtedly a profound connoisseur of the flute's unique characteristics and fully exploited its dynamic and expressive potential.
