Description

The 16th release in Retrospective's phenomenal "The Songs Of . . ." series, which is dedicated to the greatest songwriters of all time, pays tribute to the man who wrote "Tea For Two". Vincent Youmans created numerous songs that became popular standards, including "I Want To Be Happy", "Hallelujah", "The Carioca", "Sometimes I'm Happy", "More Than You Know", "Time On My Hands", "Without A Song" and "Great Day". As with every album in this series, a wonderful selection of artists has been assembled, many of whom performed the pieces for the first time or were particularly associated with the songs: Fred Astaire, Connee Boswell, Al Bowlly, Nelson Eddy, Doris Day (four songs from her Youmans film "Tea For Two") and many more. And as a bonus, there is Art Tatum's amazing "Tea For Two" with its jazz magic.
