SWR New Jazz Meeting 2015

Cuban-born jazz pianist Fabian Almazan has played with legends such as Dave Brubeck and had the honor of composing the film score for Hollywood icon George Lucas. His debut album was released in 2011, and ever since, Almazan has been regarded as one of the most promising young talents in contemporary jazz. For last year's SWR New Jazz Meeting, he formed the group Realm of Possibilities with prominent collaborators such as Linda Oh and Anna Webber. The group became a highlight of the New Jazz Meeting, thanks in no small part to specially commissioned compositions with titles such as First Realm Tübingen and Second Realm Mainz. The double CD of the live performances includes recordings from three concerts in Tübingen, Karlsruhe, and Mainz, showcasing a band that is as passionate as the audience that was completely enthralled. An impressive documentation of a fantastic live event, just what contemporary jazz needs!
