Stravinsky: Music for Solo Piano and for Piano and Orchestra

Igor Stravinsky was (along with Arnold Schoenberg) undoubtedly the most influential composer of the 20th century. Curiously, however, Stravinsky's piano concertos and his music for solo piano tend to remain in the shadow of his brilliant oeuvre. Peter Donohue had already presented a major complete recording of Stravinsky's works for piano and orchestra over 20 years ago, which immediately became the reference recording. This classic of the Stravinsky catalogue is now completed by a second CD, on which Donohue now also devotes himself to Stravinsky's music for solo piano. The sound is, as always with SOMM, first-class, and the performer once again demonstrates reference-level artistry. Excellent!
