Stravinsky: Muses

The Camerata Salzburg is launching a collaboration with the Channel Classics label and, under the baton of Giovanni Guzzo, presents its first recording titled "Muses". The album brings together three neoclassical masterpieces for chamber orchestra by Igor Stravinsky. The Concerto in E-flat major "Dumbarton Oaks" is a small concerto in the style of the Brandenburg Concertos. "Apollon musagète" pays homage to Apollo and the muses of drama, poetry, and dance with harmonically pure and melodically perfect music. The Concerto in D utilizes every conceivable type of string sound and technique, combining pure melodic and rhythmic power with wonderful cantabile passages. With these three works, the Camerata Salzburg delves deep into the world of sound – a quest made possible by the individual dedication of every musician to the ensemble, uniting the muses of chamber music, the concerto, and the orchestra.
