Strauss / Wagner / Mahler: Choral Works

Pure choral music: On the new CD, the Bavarian Radio Choir presents itself a cappella under the direction of Peter Dijkstra – with works by Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler and Richard Wagner. Magnificent sound paintings such as “Isolde’s Liebestod” or “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” shine in new, unheard splendor in Clytus Gottwald’s arrangements for 16-part choir. Due to its exceptional tonal homogeneity and stylistic versatility, the ensemble enjoys the highest esteem worldwide. The Dutch Peter Dijkstra, artistic director of the ensemble since 2005, is the shooting star of the choral scene and has already presented a wide range of programs in collaboration with the two orchestras of the Bavarian Radio.
