Description

Against all odds, under the difficult 'pandemic-related' conditions, the centenary year of the Salzburg Festival saw a truly brilliant new production of "Elektra." Lithuanian soprano Ausrine Stundyte as the vengeful and traumatized Elektra turned the opening of the festival into a real surprise. Her sister Chrysotemis was sung by her compatriot Asmik Grigorian; Derek Welton as Orest and Michael Laurenz as Aegisth complete a top-class cast.
