Strauss: The Woman Without Shadows

Although the Vienna State Opera is one of the most important opera houses in the world, curiously speaking, not very many masterpieces of the international opera repertoire were premiered here. An exception is undoubtedly "Die Frau ohne Schatten" by Richard Strauss, which is considered one of the undisputed masterpieces of today's "standard repertoire". The work was premiered in 1919. 150 years later, some of the best singers in the Strauss repertoire gathered on the stage of the Vienna State Opera to commemorate the premiere and show that "Die Frau ohne Schatten" is still alive today.
