So Percussion: 25 x 25

To mark 25 years as one of the most adventurous and influential percussion ensembles in contemporary music, Sō Percussion announces the release of “25x25.” This 8-CD box set is entirely in keeping with the group’s forward-looking mission; it is not a retrospective, but rather a standalone listening experience featuring more than 8 hours of entirely new and previously unreleased recordings, with each piece written for Sō Percussion, created in collaboration with the ensemble, or premiered by it. Over the past 25 years, the members of Sō—Jason Treuting, Adam Sliwinski, Josh Quillen, and Eric Cha-Beach—have been celebrated for their compelling performances and highly creative collaborations. Cantaloupe Music (the label founded by the Bang on a Can collective, which released Sō’s debut album in 2004) is delighted to offer this collection to longtime fans and newcomers alike. It is both a comprehensive portrait and a glimpse into the future of contemporary chamber music.
