Shostakovich: Symphony No. 7

DE3634 The San Diego Symphony Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras in the United States. Under the leadership of its Music and Artistic Director Rafael Payare, the orchestra has experienced a rapid rise, reshaped its repertoire, and developed a distinctive sound. Thanks to the recent renovation of the Jacobs Music Center—a world-class concert hall and architectural landmark—this artistry can now be experienced in its full power, sonority, and nuance. As part of a new collaboration with Delos, the musicians recorded Shostakovich’s monumental Symphony No. 7 live at the Jacobs Music Center. Known as the "Leningrad," the symphony was composed during the infamous and brutal siege of the city and is highly emotional and historically charged.
