Shostakovich: Concerto for Piano, Trumpet, and String Orchestra

Mariss Jansons was considered one of the most important Shostakovich interpreters of his generation. In a way, Shostakovich's music reflected his own personal experiences of living and working in a repressive Stalinist system. Now, two further outstanding interpretations of Shostakovich’s music by Mariss Jansons are being released: the multi-layered Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra, as well as the surprisingly quiet, introspective Symphony No. 9. Naturally, the orchestra is the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
