Schelb: Orchestral Music Vol. 1

Josef Schelb was one of the most important composers in the early German radio programs after the Second World War. He was closely connected artistically and personally to the then SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and its first chief conductor Hans Rosbaud, and so it is understandable that Schelb was able to compose his music almost "to the measure" of the musicians of the orchestra. Schelb's style, which can be described as moderate expressionism, is worth rediscovering; especially when it comes to such successful recordings as these world premiere recordings by the Philharmonie Baden-Baden and the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra.
