Sauer: Piano Concerto No. 1 / Ansorge: Piano Concerto op. 28

Both Emil von Sauer and Conrad Ansorge enjoyed the privilege of studying with Franz Liszt, who was already world-famous at the time. Liszt himself never considered himself a professor in the conventional sense; rather, he preferred to be seen as an advisor or mentor. Nevertheless, the lessons with Liszt had a lasting impact on the further musical development of the two students. This recording presents two highly virtuosic and unjustly forgotten piano concertos that also reveal a deep understanding of musical forms and structures on the part of the two Liszt students. Pianist Oliver Triendl is a dedicated advocate for forgotten composers. He has already worked with many renowned soloists and ensembles, such as the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Mozarteum-Orchester Salzburg, Ana Chumachenko, Baiba Skride, and the Mandelring Quartet. The Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin performs under the direction of Roland Kluttig.
