Saint-Saëns / Gershwin: Piano Concertos

This is the only existing recording of Gershwin's most famous concerto with Sviatoslav Richter, and it has long been one of the particularly brilliant gems in the catalogue of the Südwestrundfunk label. In fact, Richter performed this work only once in his entire career! Now this unique sound document is available again. Together with Saint-Saëns' late Fifth Piano Concerto (which has always enjoyed particularly high regard, especially in the Russian piano school), this sonically outstanding live recording from the early 1990s provides a unique insight into the immense repertoire of one of the greatest pianists. Christoph Eschenbach was a congenial partner to the mature Richter as conductor.
