Description

Nino Rota is best known today for his over 150 film scores, including the film classics Federico Fellini's "La Strada" and "La dolce vita" and Luchino Visconti's (among others) "Il gattopardo". His film score for Coppola's "The Godfather" contains one of the best-known film music themes of all. And yet Rota was always also a 'classical' composer, who composed for the stage, concert hall and even churches. These releases attest to Rota's versatility: an album by the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra Cologne with film music suites, a ballad for horn and orchestra (!) as well as two concertos for solo instrument and orchestra.
